There are many ways to make money blogging, and in this article, you will be introduced to several ways to earn money from your blog. Hopefully, you will already have your blog established with at least five posts to begin earning money from your blog.

This post has affiliate links within denoted by the letters AF

If you already have half a dozen posts on your blog, you can start to monetise them in several different ways, from affiliate marketing to Google ads. In fact, you only need a handful and the right promotion tactics to begin generating an income, although to start with, it will be a nominal amount, but this is OK; you need to walk before you can run as they say.

What you will need to make money blogging is a niche area of interest. Hopefully, you will have already targetted your blog for the keywords for your niche, and you should be writing articles with your keywords in situ. If not, you will need to rewrite your articles to make sure they are adjusted so you can be found in the search engines for those keywords. It’s recommended you use an SEO tool such as [AF] Rank Math to help you with this. Rank Math is used for WordPress, but if you don’t use WordPress, it might be advisable to change your blog platform to this as it will give you much more freedom.

You can choose one method or all of them, the more options you have, the more likely you are to make money from your blog. Your first step is always to write down your goals of what you want to achieve, and you should really do this as soon as possible. Your goals should be monthly to work out a step by step plan of approach to making money from your blog.

Affiliate Promotion

This website uses affiliate promotion; you saw one earlier for Rank Math. Basically, you promote other companies within your blog post or in the advertising space on your website.

You can sign up for affiliate programmes very easily, but you will need to get your blurb together to sell your website to potential advertisers. They will want to know if your blog is in the right niche for them and that the site is live and looking good. They don’t want their company on a half-finished site with poor writing and linking. So they will want to see a write up about your blog, and when you apply to join merchants, you have another opportunity to impress them with your site’s content and the aesthetics of your blog. You will be talking about what you can offer the affiliate merchant, and in return, they will allow you to advertise their products and services, and if you make a sale, you gain commission.

Here are two recommended affiliate websites:

ShareASale

And

Awin

The first is geared mainly to the US, but many of the companies there are worldwide brands, and the website is easy to navigate. Awin is more for the UK market, and they have some big brand names there for you to choose from.

Google Ads

Many people use Google ads to earn money off their website; some make quite a bit, but these are normally huge news type websites. To begin with, your earnings from google will be nominal, but over time they will gradually increase.

All you need to do if you are using WordPress is to get the Google Site Kit plugin, and it will do all the hard work for you. Then after a couple of days, if your application to join their Adsense programme is successful, they will start to show ads on your site. You can choose the types of creatives and choose which pages you do not want any ads to show on. Just head to Adsense and adjust to suit your needs.

If you are not using WordPress as your blogging platform, you will need to add code to your website to activate Google Ads.

This uses Google Ads; all the ads are minimal as I don’t like a heavily advertised site.

Email Marketing

Another way to make money blogging is to build up an email list and promote your affiliates or advertisers within the email you send out. Hopefully, you will already have a subscription form on your website to subscribe to your site and notify when new content is added.

This should be one of the first things you do when planning out your making money strategy. Get your subscription sign up page in order. You can use pop-ups to entice people or add sign-ups to your sidebar; you can even add subscribe areas in between your paragraphs on your blog.

[AF] You can try using the popular Mail Poet for your email subscription service. Or you may want to try the very modern Moosend. Both are great at creating email campaigns, and they are easy to use.

Advertising

You can choose to display adverts on your website and offer spaces for these ads by promoting them on social media channels. There are plenty of bloggers out there who send out a tweet letting all others know they have an advertising slot, and they charge such and such, normally around £8 for new blogs.

It is worth considering, and you should put yourself out there, as faint heart never won the maiden’s hand. All you need to do is a pitch to your social media followers, several at least will have a blog or two, and if you write quality content and are getting a good amount of visitors, you will see an interest.

But don’t neglect your website; make sure you have a work with me page like there is on Teehoo, where prospective advertisers will see that you do accept advertisers, and then they can contact you and discuss the finer details.

Collaborations

Sometimes advertisers want you to write a post for them with specific keywords, and they are willing to pay for this as they want those keywords to link out to their site. This is a bonus for both you and the advertiser, especially regarding the nitty-gritty of making money. Of course, you could also accept gifts, as Teehoo does on occasions for a guest post, but this is entirely up to you whether you want cash or are willing to accept gifts; you could always sell the gift and make a profit that way.

Once again, make sure people know how to contact you. Don’t hide your websites contact info in some dungeon on your site; put your email address in the sidebar, have your contact info page on your menu and above all, be visible. You can’t use your email address too much; get it out there for advertisers to find you.

In Summary

There is plenty of scopes to make money blogging, and all you need to do is be active about it. Sometimes the advertisers will come to you, and on other occasions, you have to go search them out; either way, you will start making money from your blog; not a lot to start with, but over time it will grow. You never know. You may get lucky and pick a very specialised niche, and advertisers will pay top dollar for it.
