How To Avoid Hosting Pitfalls

Believe me when I say I have had more hosting accounts for blogs than I can shake a stick at. The problem being is I’m a skim reader, not a details person, but I’ve had to retrain myself to look at the details when it comes to hosting my websites.

I’ve decided to add a post about hosting as if you have poor mental health and you are searching to start your own business, and like me, you are too unreliable for an employer. Then you will need a website for it, and hence you will need hosting.

I hope this post will make choosing the right host that much easier.

Free Domains

First off, the lure of a free domain is not always the best choice; secondly, paying monthly doesn’t guarantee you get a free SSL certificate. Oh no, I’ve found out numerous times that if only I had paid yearly, I would have saved a fortune and not required to pay separately for a certificate.

There are pitfalls and high mountains to cross when choosing the right domain and host providers, and I hope you can learn from my mistakes.

Low Price and Best Value

Normally, I would suggest going for the cheapest host, and I do here too. Because it is one of the hosts, I am currently with. But it is the only one I have found which offers a cheap hosting plan, an SSL certificate and a free domain name. They are called [AF] Webhosting UK.

Now, if you are still not persuaded by the lure of Webhosting UK, there are others, but you will have to pay a little bit more for them and dare I say it. The site load time is probably a bit quicker than mine. However, I do speed mine up with a caching plugin for WordPress.

You see, when you spend the extra money, you get a WordPress Hosting package that loads in super-fast time, access to inhouse analytics and normally an extra like Office 365.

I recommend two below, but the only super-cheap recommendation for total overall value is Webhosting UK for their plan.

One of the top-notch hosting providers, I can safely say they have an excellent reputation. You may have heard of them already. They are very popular.

You can get a free domain and WordPress hosting for the price of £2.11 per month (at the time of writing, it is normally £6.44, but they have a special offer on it). It comes with an SSL certificate, but you have to buy 36 months, and unless you are sure you will stick with your website for all that time, it might not be worth it.

However, if you are a determined sort, I don’t think you can get a better deal. They do love an offer, but not as much as the one below.

Head on over to [AF] Bluehost if you want top-quality and professionalism.

I don’t think the name is just a gimmick; you can’t get much cheaper when it comes to domain names than them, as, for their hosting packages, they’re of equally good value. It will cost you £5.72 for one month of hosting, and you get an SSL certificate with it, plus your first month free (at the time of writing). Providing you choose their Turbo package.

I checked out their free one month claim, and sure is sure, I didn’t have to add any of my card details.

Perfect if you are sussing out a hosting platform.

The Best I Can Find

The three I’ve mentioned are the best I can find within my budget, which admittedly is low, but we all don’t have loads of money to spend on hosting and if you are becoming a blogger or you are setting up your first shop on Woocommerce, then these hosts are perfect for you.

You don’t need an all singing all dancing hosting plan. It would help if you had something which offers value for money, a free SSL certificate, a good customer support service—ideally, managed WordPress hosting as you get with Namecheap, and, above all, a quick site load time.

The three I’ve mentioned all come with the usual WordPress themes and plugins.

Making sure you choose the correct package it will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

I hope by my mistakes of choosing the wrong hosts, you can see why I have chosen these three. It makes sense to go by recommended hosting, but just for disclosure, I am an affiliate of these three, but if you do purchase from them, you will not be charged extra by clicking on the link I supplied. I will earn a little something if you do use them.

Just for clarification, I have used them, or I am using them, so I have personal experience. These are definitely the best I found for the money and the services provided.

Let me know in the comments if you have used them and your experience.

Peace & Blessings x
